If you like a good old classic peanut butter and jelly sandwich, then you are going to LOVE my Sunbutter and jelly oatmeal!!!
This recipe is a little different from most of my other recipes, as there are no real measurements involved. You can totally eyeball everything and customize your perfect nut or seed butter to jelly ratio! (Because let’s face it. People tend to have some pretty strong opinions about their PB & J ratios, am I right?!)
This recipe is also SUPER easy to change if you’d like to make substitutions! You can use any kind of nut or seed butter that you like, any flavor jelly that you like, you can cook your oatmeal in water, milk, or a milk substitute, and you can even use gluten free oats!
Here is a list of the ingredients I used:
-
Gluten Free Quick Cooking Oats
-
Rice Dream Milk Substitute
-
SunButter (sunflower seed butter)
-
Smuckers Natural Strawberry Fruit Spread (MY FAVORITE JELLY EVER!!!)
-
A Dash of Salt
Cooking Instructions:
- Place desired amount of oats into a microwave safe bowl and add cooking liquid (milk, water, milk substitute, etc.) and a dash of salt.
- Microwave on high for 60- 80 seconds.
- Drop in a spoonful (more or less) of Sunbutter (or other nut or seed butter) and stir well.
- Drop in a spoonful (more or less) of your favorite fruit spread, jam or jelly and swirl it around.
THAT’S IT!!! You’re done! This is a super easy and healthy breakfast, lunch or bedtime snack that you can feel good about eating! I hope you enjoy this twist on a classic childhood favorite as much as I do!
